My wife, Sylvia, and I have lived here in Bloomington since 1994 - having moved from Olympia, Washington (just south of Seattle).
We have two adult children. Our son lives and works in Normal, and is the family musician and writer. Our daughter and her family live in Champaign where she is finishing her degree.
For many years I felt called to a ministry of service (diakonia). While living in Washington state, after receiving both bachelors and masters degrees, I completed three years of theological studies at the diocesan School of Theology in Seattle. Ordained a deacon in 2004 at the Cathedral Church of St. Paul in Springfield, Illinois, I was assigned to St. Matthew's here in Bloomington. In addition, I support other close-by congregations in this diocese by supplying (filling in) on some Sundays and on other occassions during times when they may not have a priest.
It is a blessing to serve the people of St. Matthew's and those in Bloomington/Normal. I believe that God calls each of us to serve, and there are many opportunities to do that in this community.
