Fellowship Committee
The St. Matthew’s Fellowship Committee is charged with initiating, organizing and implementing the church’s social activities. Its goal is to provide avenues by which parishioners and guests can come together in a variety of settings in order to build a stronger community in Christ.
Each week following the 10:00 service, the Fellowship Committee sponsors “Coffee Hour,” which allows members to meet in an informal setting over light refreshments. More elaborate functions are traditionally held at Easter, Thanksgiving and at the time of the Bishop’s annual visit to St. Matthew’s for confirmation. Special events are also held throughout the year, such as recognition receptions and group outings.
The Fellowship Committee is open to all who wish to join in the rewarding experience of helping the members of St. Matthew’s enjoy one another’s friendship and company. For more information on the committee, its activities or how you can become more involved, contact Diana Holderby
St Matthew's Quilters
The mission of St. Matthew’s Quilters is to make and supply our sick and home bound parishioners with hand made lap quilts to provide a little comfort. Also, new mothers within the parish may select a baby quilt. The Quilters of St. Matthew’s Church raise funds by the sale of their handicrafts. These proceeds have made a great contribution to St. Matthew’s. They have provided for new carpeting, blinds, painting supplies, new choir robes and a heart defibrillator for emergencies.
The St. Matthew’s quilters meet regularly and provide a free lunch every Tuesday following the 12 noon church service.
Also, with the help of other parishioners, the Quilters assist with funeral lunches.
Even if you do not quilt or sew, please come and visit with us. We would love to have your company.
Bookstore
St. Matthew’s has a small Book Corner. If you are looking for just the right card or gift item, look no further than St. Matthew’s. We keep a delightful stock of cards for every occasion at discounted prices. Throughout the year and during special holidays, we also have gift items at reasonable prices.
St. Matthew’s Book Corner is also your place to purchase or order religious items such as religious books like the Book of Common Prayer or the combined prayer book and hymnal as well as several small devotional books. We can also special order your other religious items such as crosses, cross necklaces etc. from our catalogues.
If you would like to help out with the Book Corner Ministry, please contact Grace Johns.
Altar Guild
The St. Matthew’s Altar Guild works with the Rector in maintaining the vestments and sacred vessels of our church. They meet weekly in teams to outfit the altar for upcoming services.Membership in the Altar Guild is open to all members of our church community. The director is Sandy Kohlhase.
Lamps & Altar Flowers
Donating the cost of a Memorial or Sanctuary lamp, or the Altar Flowers is a simple way to help support our Altar Guild. Lamps and flowers can be “given” for any reason (for example, as a memorial to a loved one or in thanksgiving for a particular event). Lamps cost $5 per week, while the cost of Altar Flowers is $40 per week. Donations of lamps and flowers are noted in the weekly bulletin. Sign up sheets are on the bulletin board in the Parish Hall. Questions? See Diana Holderby or talk to Laura in the office.
